How Michael went from struggling to lose weight with strict diets to dropping 25.2kg with small, gradual changes & now feels confident keeping it off.

Here's some key quotes from Michael:

What was your experience like with us?

“What I appreciate is that you never made me do any big, drastic changes.”

“I kind of feel like it wasn’t really a weight loss journey. Because I was just tweaking VERY small habits I was doing. I don’t feel like I was suppressing myself in any way.”

“And I think those little by little changes has accumulated to where it has become a norm now.”

Where were you before you started with us?

“Last May [2024] I was at my heaviest. I was on a hike in Austria and every 10 meters I was stopping. And it wasn’t a hard hike. Senior citizens had no problem. That was my wake-up call. I said I need to do something about it.”

What did you do to lose weight before our approach?

“I did other fitness programs before, but they were short and drastic and I wasn’t able to sustain them. For example, when I was in the Middle East, I hired an exercise instructor, but he only gave me an exercise program."

Keto also worked for me for a few weeks, but it was unsustainable. I gained the weight I lost in those weeks and even exceeded it. I kept telling myself I’d get back next week, then that next week didn’t happen. Then I said next week.. and that was my story.”

“I thought this was going to be the same, where you just give me a program and I stick it in, and it was like — no. It ended up being about making small changes every day until it becomes a habit!”

How have your results impacted your life?

“It started with failing doing a hike to being able to complete harder ones here in Ireland.”

“My colleagues thought I changed my entire wardrobe but it was actually old clothes that I hadn’t been able to wear because they didn’t fit.”

“My change in eating habits in the office made a ripple effect on everyone else in starting their own health journeys.”

What would you say to someone going on their own journey?

“Don’t make drastic changes in your lifestyle in one go, build that habit over time — believe me I tried it before in other programs or crash diets — nothing worked for me until I made those small tweaks every week. You don’t even notice them become habit. Don’t force yourself doing something entirely different to your lifestyle.”

What would you say to someone considering joining the program?

"Oh 100%, double thumbs up recommend it. You hearing me [on the weekly call], asking what’s my target for the week, is it realistic and how do we get there? And the accountability — checking in on me throughout the week really helped. 100% recommend.”

“Im ecstatic of the results we’ve achieved in the last 9 months, like I’ve said in one of our weekly calls, it’s one of the best investments I’ve made in myself. It’s starting to pay off already. Those habits I’ve built, they’re still going on. So fingers crossed I’m able to sustain them going forward, which I’m confident I will.”

“And that’s the beauty of building habits. It’s something achievable.”

How we helped Michael achieve these results:

How we helped Michael achieve these results:

For some context, Michael travelled to 5 different cities, ate out a lot and went through busy audit season (working from 9am - 11pm for 2 months) in the 9 months he worked with us.

Despite this, we were able to help him build lasting habits and lose 25.2kg.

What sort of wizardy are we using?

Nothing crazy.

We simply made small, gradual changes that fit around his busy job, social life and travel.

Which made it easy for him to start and stay consistent.

And we did it with our 3 Big Pillars:

1. Flexible Nutrition

We didn't put Michael on a strict diet.

In fact, for the first week, we told Michael not to change anything about his diet.

Instead, he kept a photo food log of what he was eating. Which started to make him more aware and mindful of his food choices.

Then, we had a look at what he was eating and brainstormed together what better choices we could make that would put him in a calorie deficit.

We swapped in lower calorie, higher protein foods, and added more fruit and veg as the weeks went by.

We also gave him some quick and easy meal ideas he could bring to work.

And healthier choices when eating out / ordering in.

All this let him lose weight without feeling deprived, spending ages cooking or saying no to social stuff.

2. Time-Effective Exercise

After a few weeks of focusing on nutrition, we made Michael a gym program he could do in just 2 hours per week.

He wasn't guessing what to do anymore.  And felt more confident going in.

The funny part?

In the beginning, he admits he didn't like the gym.

But that's because he said he was exercising because he wanted to lose weight.

Soon, it became "I'm doing this to build muscle and improve my strength".

And eventually it became "I'm going to the gym because I… enjoy it?". (Lol)

3. 1-1 Habit Coaching

We didn't just hand Michael a plan and forget about him.

Every week, we had a 1-1 call where we celebrated his wins, worked through struggles and kept him motivated.

We also checked in on him during the week.

And he had my personal WhatsApp, where he was always just one text away from getting all the support he needed.

So yeah, that's how Michael went from struggling with his weight due to big, drastic overhauls to seeing lasting results due to small, gradual changes to his habits.

Being healthy feels second nature. It's just part of his life now. A part of who he is.

"Having suffered my own health as a full time carer, I hired Alex and we achieved long-term sustainable habits while avoiding any diets or unrealistic programmes."

Michael's story is one of both tragedy and hope.

Michael's story is one of both tragedy and hope.

In his 20s, he was a fairly fit bloke.

A lover of football who also dabbled in some white collar boxing.

On his wedding day, he was just 73kg.

Then of course, "life happened".

In his 30s, he settled into an IT sales career, had a beautiful baby girl, stopped sports due to arthritic knees - and the kilos piled on.

But that's not all that "happened"...

2 years ago came the unthinkable.

Michael's beloved wife was diagnosed with rapidly-degenerating Motor Neuron Disease.

The doctors said it was terminal.

Michael left work, and for the following 18 months, became a full-time carer for his wife.

This next part is hard for me to write.

But I want to do Michael's story justice.

Michael watched as his wife faded away while his own health broke down and his 10-year old daughter saw it all happen in real-time.

In the end, Michael's wife passed away.

After 18 months of severe physical and mental distress, sleeping 2 hours a night and surviving on takeaways - Michael reached his heaviest of 102kg.

Not to mention the high cholesterol and blood pressure.

The doctor ordered Michael to get his health in check.

That's when he reached out to us through LinkedIn and decided to get help (because he couldn't do it alone).

But he didn't just want to "look good and feel better".

He NEEDED to be healthy and ALIVE for his daughter.

We helped Michael build a healthy lifestyle through small actions rather than drastic changes.

It was all very simple stuff:

Easy food swaps so he didn't have to cook separate meals to his daughter all the time.

2-3 gym sessions per week he could fit in while his daughter was at swimming or tennis.

Parking the car a mile away from where he was going so he could do a few extra steps.

Michael's results?

He dropped a whopping 19kg in 6 months.

He's fitter and stronger than he's felt in almost 20 years.

He's no longer on blood pressure meds and his arthritis has improved.

But that's not all...

Michael achieved those results despite going on a 10-day trip to Florida, enjoying multiple nights out with friends, eating out at restaurants, etc.

But Michael didn't just lose weight.

He gained PERMANENT HABITS.

He plans to continue this healthy lifestyle for the rest of his life, until he is old and grey.

But most of all?

Michael has the peace of mind that he's gonna be there for his daughter as she grows up.

What's next?

Michael plans on losing another 12kg to get down to his "marriage weight" of 73kg

(And he's already 1/5th of the way there).

I was talking to a colleague on a night out and found out his friend in his late 30s died of pneumonia due to complications around his weight. That was my wake up call. But I had three big challenges: knowledge, consistency and accountability.

My concern joining Fit Biz Pro was about the intensity and whether I’d be able to stick to it. But it’s actually been easier to stick to than I thought. And when you see the results, it drives you on.

Since joining, I've lost 19kg in 4 months. I feel a lot less lethargic, have way more engagement and generally a more positive outlook. It has benefitted me in nearly every aspect of life. I’ve seen my self-esteem and confidence grow, and I generally feel more in control of where things are headed. I don’t have this constant feeling of anxiety that not dealing with my weight gave me.

If you’re uncertain about joining, just do it. Don’t put barriers between now and starting. It becomes a constant cycle. If you struggled to stay consistent in the past like I did, the accountability a coach offers is really hard to replicate any other way. And when the plan is tailored to your life, and not one-size-fits-all, it makes it easier to implement as it’s designed to fit your life, not overtake it.

Small changes consistently lead to big changes. And it’s a lot less daunting when you can just focus on the small things.

I'm honestly very glad to work with Alex. Yes I have lost weight, but more importantly:

1. I am much more aware of my behaviour, be it eating or moving, instead being on autopilot, and

2. have built routines that made me mentally much more resilient to stress factors.

I especially commend Alex and Kevin for using an approach similar to cognitive-behavioural-therapy.

I was travelling one summer and tried a relatively simple hike. I struggled. My friends had to keep stopping to wait for me. And people much older were getting ahead. I knew I had to change. Especially because I'm someone who wants to enjoy life fully.

Before the program, my biggest challenges were controlling my calorie intake, and making time to exercise due to work demands.

Since joining, I’ve lost 17.7kg in 6 months. But it’s more than just the weight. I feel stronger, I sleep better, and controlling my calorie intake feels almost second nature now. Best of all, I can enjoy my food and control myself to not over-indulge.

Now, I no longer struggle much on hikes. I can wear clothes I hadn’t been able to since gaining weight uncontrollably. And lastly, I feel more comfortable with myself.

The program does not encourage you to make drastic changes but to form habits that are attainable and sustainable in the long run!

I was always eating too much and wanting to eat. And doing little to no exercise. I was overdoing it. My turning point was just realising how taking control now would be better for me long-term.

But I had a challenge: Being more disciplined. That’s why my biggest concern joining Fit Biz Pro was the investment and past habits of not following through on something.

The biggest impact on me is how I’m making better food choices and becoming a more disciplined person in life — which is positively impacting me in all areas. I feel a lot better than before.

If you’re uncertain of joining, the investment may be "expensive" from a financial standpoint, but weigh it against what you are vs what you will be. If you stay committed, consider how this will change your life if you actually make the correct changes for the long-term.

I’m a martial artist so I was always pretty fit. But I got into a car accident and couldn’t walk properly or exercise for over 8 months. During that time, I gained over 20kg. I was the biggest I’d ever been in my life and I knew I couldn’t keep going in the same direction.

My biggest challenge was I love food. And while I was injured I did a lot of “comfort eating” which was a hard habit to break.

The 1 thing that made the biggest impact for me was accountability. Having someone to do the process with, check-in with you daily/weekly and give you the occasional keep up the ass really helped.

As a result, I lost the “car accident weight”. And while I definitely did it for myself, it was also nice to hear compliments from friends and co-workers. My girlfriend likes it too!

Working with Alex was one of the best decisions I made. I might have been able to lose all the weight myself, but knowing myself, it probably would have taken longer and been 10x harder.

I got in a picture with two co-workers at the pub and when I looked at it I couldn’t believe how FAT I looked. I weighed over 100kg (the heaviest I’ve ever been). It didn’t do wonders for my confidence so I knew I had to get my shit together fast.

The thing is, I used to be in decent shape back in college. But when I started my IT sales career, I had less time for the gym and more social events (client/partner dinners and drinks, and meeting with friends). Which led to fat Pav lol.

Time-Effective Training meant I could squeeze in gym sessions during my lunchtime. And Flexible Eating meant I could lose weight without following a strict diet or meal plan. This is important because my job requires “wining and dining” with clients/partners (and I do enjoy quite a big social life myself haha).

Now, I’m definitely in the best shape I’ve been in my life - both physically and mentally. Physically, all my clothes (especially suits) fit really well and I feel good taking my top off on holidays. Mentally, I feel more confident, have energy for my long (stressful) workdays, and staying on top of my sales targets.

If you're thinking of joining the program, do it. You probably already see the value in coaching/mentorship for your career. Working with Fit Biz Pro is the same, but for your health and fitness.
